Why I delegate my Nouns to Lil Nouns Community

Why I delegate my Nouns to Lil Nouns Community

50% of all income of this NFT will be send to Lil Nouns' Treasury

After @Lil Ping and @Adam introduced the idea of Nouns to me, I immediately decided that I should buy Nouns and join the community.

I first acquired 7 Lil Nouns to see how this Nounish community works. After joining the Lil Nouns discord and watching for a while, I successfully bid on Nouns #557.

Join a party

As a newcomer to the Nouns community, gaining social capital starting from zero and getting to know more people is a very difficult thing in itself. Especially when I hold only one single Nouns.

“I need to join a party.” - I’m seeing Nouns as something like an online Congress.

The community which onboarded me to the Nouns ecosystem came into my mind. Lil Nouns currently owns 15 Nouns which means it is the largest open organization that I can join.

Lil Nouns as a key minority party

Lil Nouns is like a key minority party(or a caucus) in the Nouns Congress. As a community Lil Nouns always vote together. When the Nouns community is having a controversial proposal under discussion, the voting power of Lil Nouns is so important. Thus proposers will have to come to Lil Nouns and get the key votes.

In this case, when Lil Nouns as a whole submit a proposal, all other Nouns holders give it a little more thought when they vote against Lil Nouns community.

Delegate to Lil Nouns

Just acquiring more Lil Nouns is not enough, I should act together with the Lil Nouns community. Then I decided that I should delegate my voting power to Lil Nouns and get some Lil Nouns voting power in exchange.

Then I started discussing this idea with @Al409. We talked about two possible solutions for this:

  • Delegation exchange: Exchange voting power between Nouns and Lil Nouns community. Delegate my Nouns to Lil Nouns and get around 100 - 200 Lil Nouns delegate back to me. The problem of this solution is Lil Nouns community doesn't have a lot of Lil Nouns to exchange, and if there are other Nouns holders who want to exchange in a similar way in the future, this option itself becomes difficult to expand.

  • Rental mode: Paying Nouns delegation with permanent Lil Nouns is a bit strange, but it seems to be a more likely model for expansion. On the one hand, this does not give a person a lot of voting power quickly in a short period of time, and gives the Nouns holder a process of onboarding to the Lil Nouns community. And right after our discussion, Nouns Agora released their Nouns delegation auction product.

We were thinking that if we want to do this in a systematic way and attract more Nouns holders to delegate their voting power to Lil Nouns community, the rental mode seems to be a better solution. But after discussion with the Lil Nouns community, it seems like people love the delegation mode better.

Personally I’d love to try either mode and pave the way for future possible solutions, and let’s see how it goes!
