Songwriting Scratch-Pad (12/06/2022)

I had a writing session with Josh at The Helm 3 days ago. I usually bring my computer to write on, but didn't at this session, so I asked him for some paper. After scribbling on this for a bit, I transitioned to writing in the notes app on my phone.

This particular session felt SO GOOD for a few reasons...
A) It was my first one in what felt like too long. Also my first at The Helm.
B) It was in an explicitly queer-positive studio, with another queer person.
C) I didn't have to dodge micro-aggressions, censor myself, or perform at all.
D) Josh is SO DOPE at so many instruments...jazz chops. Plus has super chill energy.
E) The Beaumont is just such a vibe. Everywhere is covered in colourful art, and I've performed downstairs a bunch of times.
F) I got to sign my new name on the Helm soundproofing panel alongside a bunch of local legends.
G) There was tea :3

Shout-outs to cxy for encouraging me to mint creative artifacts like this one in damn near real-time. This thing looks like it belongs in a museum exhibit...I guess we're creating one, eh? :))
