A Place in the World

A 3d Scan combined with a CGI environment.

The democratisation of 3D scanning technology can change how we create and share memories. If so, what is the definition of 3D-scanned places? Are they just copies of reality? Or do they have values and characteristics to be categorised as new places?

In this work, the artist aims to mix fiction and reality, creating new yet familiar places, questioning the definition of digital reproduction and challenging preconceptions of quotidian space. She experiments with new possibilities for exploring space and plays with augmented forms of familiarity, nostalgia, and otherness.

This piece is an excerpt from an audiovisual performance produced in collaboration with a composer nara is neus. It premiered at Mira festival in 2021 and also featured in the January 2022 edition of the FACT magazine.
